A FRAM GROUP project
Famiry is an interactive digital family tree. Here an ancestor is not a row in a table but a card with dates, photographs, documents and a life story. The tree lives online: relatives build it together from different cities and countries, and it survives a change of computer — or of the person who kept it.
Why online
Nearly every family has someone who gathered the lineage: a folder of extracts, a chart on a sheet of paper, a file on the home computer. While they are at it, all is well. After that the story always repeats: the file stays on an old laptop, the folder goes up to the attic, and a few years later nobody can say where the great-grandmother came from.
A digital tree removes that dependence on one person and one device. It is open to everyone you grant access to, can be added to from any device, and holds not only names and dates but the very thing a lineage is gathered for: faces, voices, documents, living detail.
What is inside
Where to begin
The first step is to write down what the family still remembers: yourself, your parents, grandparents, their brothers and sisters. That takes an evening. After that the tree expands on its own — through matches, documents and the recollections of relatives you have invited to join you.
The most common loss in a family history is not a burned archive but a conversation that never happened. While the elders are still here, their memory is worth more than any document: a document can be found years later, a recollection cannot.
When help is needed
A line breaks off at pre-revolutionary records, documents are in old orthography or in foreign archives, and there is no time to search. That is when genealogists step in: FRAM GROUP conducts the full lineage research — from archival search to a family book.
